Barcelona star claims his performance vs Benfica ‘might have been the best’ of his career | OneFootball

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Tuesday evening revealed his opinion that his latest showing may have been the very finest of his career to date.

The player in question? Alejandro Balde.

Full-back Balde, for his part, was in from the off once again this evening.

After Barcelona welcomed Benfica to Catalunya’s capital for a Champions League Last-16 clash, the Spanish international was afforded a starting berth on the left of boss Hansi Flick’s backline.

And to say that Balde went on to justify his inclusion would be something of an understatement.

Nothing short of superb on both sides of the ball, the 21-year-old was an absolute driving force in the Blaugrana’s eventual 3-1 triumph.

So much so that, speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle, Balde himself went on to admit:

“This might have been my best match since starting to play for the first-team.”
