A member of the attacking ranks at Ansu Fati was not afforded his much-desired opportunity to bid farewell to the club’s supporters by way of one final home appearance on Sunday.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Ansu Fati as the player in question.

Wide-man Ansu, for his part, took his place in Barca’s squad once more yesterday evening, as the Blaugrana welcomed Villarreal to Catalunya’s capital for their penultimate outing of the La Liga campaign.

En route to an eventual 3-2 defeat, however, the 22-year-old was again left frustrated in his pursuit of game time.

Late on, just when it appeared as though his chance to enter the fray was incoming, Hansi Flick instead opted to introduce Pau Víctor.

And in the process, Barca’s headmaster brought to an end a long-standing hope on Ansu’s part.

As per Sport, the attacker was eager to take to the pitch one last time at Montjuïc, to soak up the applause of the fans, and bid the Blaugrana faithful a proper goodbye.

Ahead of his imminent summer exit, however, Ansu’s difficult season back in Catalunya only continued…
