Barcelona star’s brother launches defence amid fan backlash | OneFootball

The brother of Barcelona star Ronald Araújo has taken to social media late this week, to launch a stern defence of his sibling.

This comes amid an ongoing fan backlash against the defender.

The name of defender Araújo has of course taken its place centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last couple of days.

Unfortunately for the Uruguayan, however, as much comes for altogether less than positive reasons.

In the aftermath of Barcelona’s treble hopes being brought to an end in heartbreaking fashion at the hands of Inter Milan, Araújo has been singled out as heavily to blame.

After being introduced off the bench at San Siro, the 26-year-old failed to cover himself in glory en route to Inter netting their third and fourth goals of the evening.

Araújo himself felt it necessary to respond to such criticism on Thursday, by way of a post on ‘X’:

And as alluded to above, a day on, the stopper’s brother has followed suit.

In a further post online, Araújo’s sibling launched a stern defence of the South American, questioning the memory of Barcelona’s supporters:

“Do you remember the 2022/2023 season? Have you already forgotten what he’s capable of?”
