La Liga giants Barcelona remain keenly interested in the signature of Athletic Club star Nico Williams.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Monday provided an insight into the Blaugrana’s plans for next season.

The name of wide-man Williams, of course, took its place front and centre in the media headlines throughout the summer transfer window.

This came with the 22-year-old’s continued excellence for club and country alike having sparked widespread interest in his signature.

Barcelona, for one, pushed hard to bring Nico in for much of the summer, eager to unite the Spanish international with close friend Lamine Yamal.

In the end, the talented attacker opted to stay put, rewarded for his commitment with Athletic Club’s no.10 jersey.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, then Barca’s Nico pursuit may not have come to an end just yet…

Despite the ongoing excellence of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, Deco and the Camp Nou transfer team are understood to remain on the lookout for reinforcements out wide with a view to the 2025/26 campaign.

And, on a long list of options drawn up by the Blaugrana, Nico sits at the very top.

As per a report from Sport:

‘Despite the fact that the Athletic Club attacker rejected FC Barcelona last summer, the entity led by Joan Laporta does not give up and will try to sign him at the end of the current season.’
