FC Barcelona fans would be quite excited for tonight’s round of UEFA Champions League matches as they can see their team making its way to the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
The Blaugranes will be taking on Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the quarter-final tie and will be taking a 4-goal advantage into this game from the first leg.
The Polish forward Robert Lewandowski was the scorer of 2 of these 4 goals scored by the Catalans in the first leg. With these two goals, he took his scoring tally with Barcelona to 99, and thus is only 1 goal short of reaching his century.
He could have reached this milestone in the league game against Leganes but was unable to get on the scoresheet and an own goal by Jorge Saenz remained the only goal scored in that match.
Now, it seems that he will have to wait a bit longer to reach this personal milestone. This is particularly the case as Mundo Deportivo notes that the Pole was seen chatting with Hansi Flick, his assistant Marcus Sorg, and one of the team’s fitness coaches Pepe Conde, and during this chat, the striker kept touching the back of his left thigh.
Keeping in view the fact that Lewandowski has started the last three games for Barcelona and the Catalan side is also enjoying a 4-goal advantage in the tie, he was already expected to sit out the UCL game tonight.
But this latest episode, which can point to a physical problem for the striker, makes it even more likely for him not to start this match in Dortmund.
Ferran Torres will probably take his place in the lineup, and with the incredible efficiency he has shown so far this season, there will not be any significant downgrade in quality even if the Pole misses this match.
