Marc Casado played a key role in Barcelona’s dominant 4-0 victory over Real Sociedad, marking a memorable moment by scoring his first goal for the senior team.

Despite the significance of the goal, he admitted that it was not the most aesthetically pleasing finish. His teammates had jokingly doubted his ability to score this season, making the moment even more satisfying for him.

“My teammates told me that I wasn’t going to score this season but I’m very happy to get my first one with this shirt,” he began saying.

After finding the back of the net, Casado celebrated by making a gesture as if he was holding banknotes between his fingers.

He later explained that this was a tribute to a podcast by Catalan singer Miki Nunez, a lighthearted dedication that added a personal touch to his special moment.

“It was a dedication to a podcast by Miki Nunez,” he added.

Regarding his competition with Frenkie de Jong, Casado acknowledged the Dutchman’s quality and the reality of squad rotation. He recognised that there are different phases in a season where some players get more minutes than others.

“You have to accept that there are moments in the season and now I have to play less. It’s part of football.”

While every footballer naturally wants to play as much as possible, he understands the importance of patience and perseverance.

De Jong, according to him, is not only an outstanding footballer but also a great person, contributing positively to the team environment.

“All the players want to play everything. In the end, Frenkie is a great player, he’s a great person and there’s a great relationship.”

“This squad is very big and there’s a lot of quality, all the players are world-class. There will be moments and moments during the season and the important thing is to keep fighting,” he added.

Reflecting on the match, Casado admitted that the game changed dramatically after Real Sociedad’s Elustondo was sent off in the 16th minute.

Until that point, the opposition had applied intense pressure, making it difficult for Barcelona to settle.

However, the red card shifted the momentum, and the team took full advantage by controlling possession and dictating the pace of the game.

“We were playing well against Real Sociedad, who are a team that presses you very well, and then the game became more favourable with the red card. We knew how to take advantage of it and we didn’t rush the ball.”

The young midfielder also praised Barcelona’s performance in 2025, highlighting their unbeaten run so far.

He stressed the importance of maintaining their winning mentality and taking each game seriously.

“The team is doing a great job to be where it is right now, but there is a lot of League left and we know that there are many difficult games left.”

Finally, Casado revealed that Barcelona have been “practising a lot on corners”. Their hard work has paid off, as the team scored two more goals from corners in this match, following a similar success against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey.
