Barcelona are set to secure the long-term future of Pau Cubarsi, as the young defender will officially extend his contract with the club until 2030 today, reports SPORT.
The deal, expected to be announced today, aligns with the club’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their squad by retaining key talents.
Cubarsi, a product of La Masia, was previously tied to the club until 2027, but with his recent contract extension, he is now committed to the Blaugrana for an additional three seasons.
The agreement follows a predetermined plan set by the club, ensuring that once the player reaches 18 years of age, a renewal would be put in place to secure his presence at Barcelona for the long term.
Just a few weeks after celebrating his birthday, the terms of his new contract are set to be formalised, reinforcing the club’s confidence in his abilities.

Cubarsi has established himself as an irreplaceable figure in Barcelona’s defence. He was a key player under Xavi and continues to be an integral part of the squad under Hansi Flick.
Among the centre-backs at the club, he is the only one with a guaranteed starting role, while players like Inigo Martinez, Eric Garcia, and Ronald Araujo rotate as his defensive partners.
His consistency has been remarkable this season, with the young defender featuring in all 36 matches played by Barcelona so far, alongside Jules Kounde.
Since his promotion to the first team, he has already made 60 appearances for the club, a significant milestone for a player of his age.
Despite his defensive responsibilities, Cubarsi has contributed offensively as well. He has provided four assists, three of which came this season, and has been recognised for his performances on multiple occasions.
He was named the best player in two Champions League fixtures—on his debut against Monaco last season and again this season against Brest.
