Barcelona’s trip to Pamplona was not a memorable one as it was the game that broke the team’s seven-game winning streak in La Liga.

After the game, the manager Hansi Flick took complete accountability for the result but reports suggest that he does not regret his decision to heavily rotate the team keeping the long-term plan in mind.

Sergi Dominguez was one of the youngsters the manager counted on at El Sadar as he selected the youngster to replace Inigo Martinez in the starting lineup.

A fitness setback

Dominguez started for Barcelona against Osasuna and played 85 minutes on the night.

He recorded four clearances, and a tackle and completed 96% of his passes but lacked chemistry with Pau Cubarsi against the Pamplona-based side and eventually came off for Hector Fort in the 85th minute.

As revealed in a recent update from Javi Miguel, Dominguez has an overload in the soleus muscle of his right leg and that was perhaps the reason he was taken off early.

While news of his injury does not bode well for Barcelona, the fact that it is just an overload suggests that he will face minimal time on the sidelines.

Given that Inigo Martinez will return to the XI against Young Boys, Flick will not worry too much about the setback.

In fact, some reports in Spain even suggest that the young La Masia prospect did normal recovery training today with the group.

With Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen likely to be unavailable until the new year, Flick will continue counting on the youngster, who will be looking to redeem himself after the misstep vs Osasuna.

So far this season, Dominguez has started two games for Barcelona and made three appearances. In that duration, he averages over four defensive actions and recovers 2.7 balls per game.
