Three members of the first-team setup at La Liga giants Barcelona have this week seen their efforts recognised by the game’s governing body, FIFA.
As much comes by way of nominations for a place in ‘The Best’ XI of the Year for 2024.
The first Blaugrana name on the list should come as little surprise, in the form of explosive young winger Lamine Yamal.
The 17-year-old has for his part also been put forward for ‘The Best’ Player of the Year prize.
And Barcelona’s two other nominees for a spot in FIFA’s Team of the Year both ply their trade as attack-minded midfielders in Hansi Flick’s squad.
Dani Olmo is rewarded for his excellence last season with RB Leipzig, at Euro 2024 with Spain, and over the early months of the new campaign since linking back up with Barcelona.
And joining teammates Lamine and Olmo on the shortlist is Fermín López, who built on a tremendous breakout season in 2023/24 by proving himself the star performer en route to Spain’s triumph at the Olympic Games.
