The transfer team at La Liga giants Barcelona intend to keep a watchful eye on the efforts of one member of the defensive ranks at upcoming opponents Benfica later this evening.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Álvaro Carreras as the player in question.
Left-back Carreras, for his part, is in the midst of a stellar campaign to date, since making his move to Benfica from Manchester United a permanent one last summer.
All told, the 21-year-old has racked up 29 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with three goals and three assists along the way.
Such endeavours have not gone at all unnoticed across the continent, with a number of leading European clubs understood to be keeping a close eye on Carreras’ development.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, then one such outfit come in the form of Barcelona.
Hansi Flick’s Blaugrana are of course primed to lock horns with Benfica in the Champions League later tonight.
And, as per Sport, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at left-back with a view to next season:
‘Barca will be keeping a close eye on Álvaro Carreras today.’
