Barcelona remain interested in Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo, but it appears he is bottom of their list of priorities this summer. The 30-year-old Portuguese is not part of Pep Guardiola’s plans, but is holding out for a move to Catalonia.

According to Sport, Barcelona will look to sign another midfielder rather than strengthen the right-back position if they have the finances to do so. This comes after Guardiola praised his behaviour since returning to training, despite a move looking likely. The Catalan coach also noted that Cancelo could stay or leave on loan.

The Blaugrana are only considering paying a potential percentage of his wages in a loan deal, but have no intention of extending their finances to bring Cancelo back this summer.

Previous reports have mentioned a potential loan with an option to buy, amounting to €20m. It does seem as if any deal will only come in the final stages of the transfer window. Barcelona have Jules Kounde operating at right-back at the moment, and at a good level. Although Julian Araujo has left, behind him, youngster Hector Fort has shown promise in recent months.
