FC Barcelona still have the most crucial stretch of the 2024-25 season yet to play, but as the season approaches its end, they are also paying a significant degree of attention to the requirements of their team for the next season.

For the upcoming summer transfer window, one of the areas that the Catalans are looking to reinforce is that of the flanks, as they want to bring some cover and competition for their two starting fullbacks, Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde.

Barcelona preparing their first formal offer for Alejandro Grimaldo

In this regard, one of the players they have been closely linked with for quite some time now is the Bayer Leverkusen defender Alejandro Grimaldo, who, is gaining a lot of traction at Barcelona because of his maturity, reliability, and consistency in attacking prowess.

Trained at La Masia, the Spanish defender has established himself as one of the best players in his position with his performances in the Bundesliga, and, according to Fichajes, the Blaugranes are preparing their first formal offer for the defender, which will go up to €25 million. This amount would also be acceptable for Leverkusen, as Grimaldo is already 29 years of age.

The defender is keen to return to Spain

The player himself is also keen to return to Spain and to Barcelona in particular, the place where he was trained during his youth. Furthermore, the style of play currently adopted by the Catalan side also attracts him.

Keeping in view the inflated nature of the market, this would definitely be a good move for the Blaugrana side, as they would get a very competent cover for one of their players who has a worrying history with injuries and who is also currently out with an injury, i.e., Alejandro Balde.

However, it remains to be seen how this operation goes on in the coming weeks and months, as Barcelona will once again have to deal with FFP problems in the upcoming summer transfer window.
