Barcelona winger remains confident amid team’s slump in form: ‘The season is like a marathon’ | OneFootball

Ferran Torres has proven in recent weeks how he is unaffected by the criticism around him as he has come out as Barcelona’s hero on more than one occasion across competitions.

His resurgence began in the team’s 5-1 win over Mallorca where he started and scored a goal at Estadi de Son Moix. He then found the back of the net against Benito Villamarin in Barcelona’s draw against Real Betis.

His best performance, needless to say, came at Signal Iduna Park where he scored a brace to help Barcelona to a special win and it is safe to say that he is in great form.

The shark speaks out

Speaking to the media in a recent interview building up to the clash against Atletico Madrid, the Barcelona forward spoke about the team’s shortcomings in La Liga and refused to read too much into them.

“The season is like a marathon. During this race, there may be moments when you are not at your best, but the important thing is to stay calm because we are as good as we were when we were in a very good dynamic,” he said, maintaining faith in the team.

The Spanish winger then elaborated on how the media was very unforgiving on the club, exaggerating defeats and downplaying victories. Without mincing his words, he said,

“We are people who are used to the fact that when a result comes out there is tension around us, but we feel completely calm and very confident. We train in the best possible way.”

Looking forward to the difficult fixtures ahead, Torres expressed his faith in the dynamics and was confident that the team would find its best version soon.

“From here, little by little, we return to our level. And when we reach this level, we become invincible.”

“We are ready to press,” he concluded.
