Despite having one of the best forward lines in Europe playing for them this season, FC Barcelona are still looking to further reinforce their attacking line in the next summer transfer window.
For this purpose, the Blaugranes have been linked with several high-profile names in the last few weeks and months. Reportedly, the favorite candidate of the Catalan club’s Sporting Department at the moment is the Liverpool forward Luis Diaz.
In addition to being a highly skilled forward who can play both on the left wing and as a striker, another factor that makes the Colombian an attractive target for Barcelona is his complicated renewal negotiations with Liverpool.
Negotiations between him and the Merseyside club looked to be stuck for the last few weeks. However, as SPORT has reported, some recent developments at the Premier League side mean the way for Diaz’s renewal is all but cleared.
Liverpool recently announced their agreement with Adidas under which the German sportswear company will be the official provider for their matchday shirts, training kits, and other lifestyle apparel, for all the men’s and women’s teams, academy teams, and the LFC foundation staff.
This agreement can also go on to have a direct impact on Luis Diaz’s renewal, as the Colombian winger is one of the most popular stars promoting the German company.
As a result, news from Colombia suggests that this agreement will also press Liverpool to resume renewal negotiations with Diaz and to ensure a successful completion of this operation to ensure speculation about his departure from the club dies down as soon as possible.
As already mentioned, Barcelona have the Colombian as one of their favourite candidates to reinforce the frontline and have been in regular direct contact with the forward. However, his large price tag can be an obstacle for the Blaugranes, and their chances of signing him will be significantly reduced once he signs his renewal with Liverpool.
