Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets could be out for as many as three weeks after picking up an injury in Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over Chelsea.
Busquets was substituted just after the hour mark after receiving a bang on his foot and a statement released via the club’s website on Thursday confirmed they yet to establish the full extent of the injury.
“Sergio Busquets has a bruise on his right foot and is awaiting further tests to know the exact extent of his injury,” read the statement.
But according to Mundo Deportivo, the Spain international has suffered a fracture of his fifth metatarsal and will miss Sunday’s encounter with Athletic Club, both of Spain’s upcoming friendly matches, the Blaugrana’s clash with Sevilla on 31 March and possibly even the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
If his recovery goes to plan, his first game back will therefore be the home encounter with Legánes on 8 April.
