The interest of La Liga giants Barcelona in a leading member of the attacking ranks at Championship outfit Hull City has on Wednesday been confirmed.

The Tigers star in the sights of Deco and co? Jaden Philogene.

The name of winger Philogene has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last couple of weeks.

As much comes after surprise reports began to surface in the media, pointing towards the Englishman as the latest name added to Barcelona’s shortlist of summer targets.

The Blaugrana are known to be on the lookout for fresh blood on the left flank, with Philogene’s excellence en route to 12 goals and six assists in England’s 2nd tier this past season having seen him catch the eye.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, it therefore came as little surprise when his side’s star winger’s Camp Nou links were put to Hull owner Acun Ilicadi.

And, during an interview with talkSPORT, as cited by Diario Sport, Ilicadi was not shy in confirming Barca’s interest:

“Yes, it’s true that Barça are interested in Philogene, but I’ve already told the fans that I don’t need to sell anyone. I haven’t come to football to make money, that’s clear to me.”

The Hull chief continued:

“For me, if a player wants to change clubs and says so, it’s not the end of the world. Sometimes it’s necessary to make a certain sale in order to then make the bigger project. We’ll see what happens in this case.”
