Midfielder Harrison Armstrong has huge potential, and the League Two outfit feel he can help consolidate their promotion push later in the season.
League Two outfit Barrow are lining up Everton teenager Harrison Armstrong in the upcoming January transfer window in a bid to bolster their squad for the second half of the campaign.
The Cumbrian outfit have made a solid start to their League Two season, sitting just outside the play-off positions with nearly a third of the season gone.
While they're currently winless in six matches in all competitions, Stephen Clemence's Bluebirds are hoping to better last season's eighth position that saw them finish just outside the play-offs, as they look to reach the third-tier for the first time since 1970.
While the Cumbria side aren't the most prolific of sides, their defensive record is one of the best in the division, as their prowess from set-pieces has seen them edge tight games in their favour.
Clemence's team operate a blended style, with their physicality and tenacious pressing equally matched by an ability to hit sides on the counter with pace and guile from wide areas.
To make this approach work effectively, dynamic, box-to-box midfielders are a must, and while the likes of Dean Campbell and Robbie Gotts provide this, further depth may be required at the business end of the season, with journalist Alan Nixon reporting on Patreon that a January move for Everton youngster Harrison Armstrong could be in the offing.
England under-18 international Armstrong is highly thought of by those at Goodison Park, and the 17-year-old has already made his Premier League bow for the club.
While his debut came in difficult circumstances, the youngster replacing Jesper Lindstron just before the hour mark during a 4-0 defeat at Tottenham in August, with his inclusion at such a young age showing the promise that he possesses.
With the Toffees struggling once again in the top-flight, having got off to another disappointing start, it's unlikely Armstrong will get too many further first-team opportunities this season, as manager Sean Dyche often prefers experience to youth, and throwing the teen into their current difficulties could harm rather than help the youngster's development.
And whilst he remains in and around Sean Dyche's first-team squad, a loan spell getting regular action further down the pyramid seems a wise call at this juncture when January comes around.
At just 17-years-old, Armstrong still has plenty of growth and development to do, both physically and in his understanding of the game and its requirements on a weekly basis.
The youngster is still, understandably, slight in figure and know-how, and would benefit hugely from being allowed to experience the demands of getting a result on a Saturday afternoon.
League Two is a good grounding point. Physically relentless, game management is also a huge factor at fourth-tier level, and the Everton youngster would learn a great deal about himself and how to become a more complete footballer by being exposed to this over the coming months.
Barrow's dynamic, hard-running style would seem the perfect fit for the youngster, who possesses the necessary skills to fit into the engine room at Holker Street.
Showcasing Armstrong's talents alongside and against the more seasoned professionals in the fourth-tier would be beneficial for all parties in what could be a win-win situation that would see him return to Goodison Park a more well-rounded player.
There's still two months until January, and things could change in a multitude of ways, but Armstrong joining the Bluebirds in the winter transfer window would make a lot of sense.
