Former Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson will meet with the Ibrox club today to hold talks over succeeding Philippe Clement as interim manager until the rest of the season, according to talkSPORT sports broadcaster Jim White. The Light Blues parted with the 50-year-old Belgian yesterday after the 2-0 Premiership defeat to St Mirren on Saturday proved to be the final straw. Rangers are expected to name a caretaker manager for this midweek’s league clash with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, and Ferguson is in the running.

The 47-year-old was recently in charge of Alloa Athletic having also managed the likes of Kelty Hearts, Clyde and Blackpool, and he will fancy his chances of helping the Bears out for the rest of the season if appointed. Ferguson spent 13 seasons at Rangers across two spells and knows one or two things about the demand of such a big club. He won five Scottish Premier League titles, five Scottish Cups and five Scottish League Cups playing for the Light Blues and it will be a dream for him to manage them.
