Bayer Leverkusen star added to defensive shortlist at Atletico Madrid | OneFootball

Atletico Madrid have already made the big-money signings of Robin Le Normand, Alexander Sorloth and Julian Alvarez, with a €40m deal for Conor Gallagher also hanging in the balance. Their spending does not look like ending there, as a left-sided centre-back is also wanted by Los Colchoneros.

A replacement for Mario Hermoso has been on the agenda for the entire summer, but Atleti have not had much success in finding one. Their leading target has been, and continues to be, David Hancko. However, they’ve yet to agree a fee with Feyenoord, which has led to other options being considered.

As per Relevo, one of those is Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie. The Ecuadorian defender has been on Atleti’s radar for some time, and he would be an ideal option for the left centre-back position in Diego Simeone’s system.

However, it’s likely that Hincapie would be even more expensive than Hancko, which would make things difficult for Atletico Madrid. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how they approach the situation over the remainder of the transfer window.
