Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has issued a public statement on behalf of the club to address the ongoing goalkeeping issues at the club.

Manuel Neuer is locked in a contract extension stalemate which shows no signs of coming to an end soon, while his heir apparent Alexander Nübel is due to arrive in the summer from Schalke.

Last weekend, the current Bayern captain gave an interview to BILD am Sonntag in which he suggested the incoming arrival has been offered play time guarantees.

The situation further threatened to spiral out of control when current second choice ‘keeper Sven Ulreich’s agent Jürgen Schwab confirmed those comments.

“Bayern is a club in which sporting decisions are made. Let’s see who ends up sitting on the bench behind Neuer,” he told kicker.

A report in BILD claims that several players in the dressing room are unhappy about the apparent guarantees offered to Nübel, particularly as Ulreich is a popular figure in the squad, and are worried that Neuer could depart due to his frustrations.

But in an attempt to draw a line under the situation before things go much further, Rummenigge has insisted that all at the club are happy with the decision to sign Nübel and warned against agents criticising other players.

“We are convince that Neuer, with his quality and experience, will make an important contribution to the development of Nübel,” he stated.

“Furthermore, we’d like to add that Bayern forbids derogatory comments from player agents about other Bayern players.”

That final part was also a warning to young goalkeeper Christian Früchtl’s representative Chrstian Roessner about Nübel and his agent, which has led to the warning.
