Bayern Munich are interested in signing Rayan Cherki of Olympique Lyon. According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport, Bayern are among several top European clubs closely monitoring the situation of the talented 21-year-old attacking midfielder.

While not an official release clause, there is an informal agreement between Lyon and the player that he would be let go if an interested club pays €22.5 million. For a player of Cherki’s talent and potential, that fee could be an absolute bargain. Naturally, Bayern are not the only club plotting a move for the player; the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Liverpool are also interested in acquiring the gifted Frenchman.

At Bayern, Cherki can provide valuable depth as Jamal Musiala’s backup in the attacking midfield role. Additionally, he can be deployed as a winger on either side of the field, as he has been used frequently at Lyon. His versatility in attack, vision to play incisive passes, and exceptional dribbling skills could heavily bolster Bayern’s offensive unit.

While Bayern are interested in Rayan Cherki for a winter move, it is possible that he could end up being a candidate for the summer transfer window. A January move for the 21-year-old would be unlikely if Matthys Tel ends up staying at Bayern. Tel has attracted interest from Premier League side Chelsea and Roberto De Zerbi's Olympique Marseille.
