Bayern Munich players and staff will get a few days off after the game against RB Leipzig on Friday as the winter break begins in the Bundesliga. The club chiefs are expected to be busy during this period as they work on contract extensions of several players.

Jamal Musiala has been one of the best players in the Bundesliga this season. The 21-year-old has been in sensational scoring form for Bayern since returning from a minor hip injury in October. Bayern want to make Musiala the face of the club by offering a long-term contract. His current deal comes to an end in 2026.

The record Bundesliga champions have held positive talks with Musiala. Several big clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation in Munich. Manchester City have been concretely linked with Musiala, but Bayern are ready to do everything possible to keep the German superstar in Bavaria.

Musiala is content with life in Munich. He has already outlined sporting conditions that need to be satisfied for him to stay at Bayern. The German international wants to compete for the biggest collective and individual honours. While talking to SportBild for end of the year interview, Musiala admitted that he wants to define an era at Bayern. It is probably the biggest hint he has dropped about signing

"I would like to shape an era at FC Bayern. If I extend my contract with FC Bayern, that's my aim and goal. But I also know that you have to work for it - with wins, with titles and big trophies - then you'll get a standing like that. I would like to work for that at FC Bayern."Jamal Musiala

Bayern likely to break the bank for Musiala

The contract renewal for Musiala is going to be expensive for Bayern. He is likely to become one of the best-paid players in the senior squad at the club. Die Roten are reportedly going to offer him a deal worth €120 million to sign a contract until 2029.

Considering the age and quality of Musiala, it will be money well spent for Bayern. With the likes of Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller expected to leave in the near future, the club chiefs will balance the books despite spending big on Musiala’s contract. It would have been a disaster for Bayern if they had lost Musiala to one of their European rivals.

While the contract talks with Musiala are progressing well, Die Roten also have work to do regarding contract extensions of Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies. Both players are in the final year of current deals. Bayern remain confident about securing the future of Kimmich, while there has been significant progress made in the negotiations with Davies. There are likely to be significant updates on contract renewals throughout the winter break.
