Joshua Kimmich has less than six months left on his current contract at Bayern Munich with his situation garnering interest from several top clubs across Europe, including Barcelona.

The Blaugrana have been long-term admirers of the 29-year-old midfield star and remain open to the idea of signing him for free in the summer with Hansi Flick keen to reunite with his former ward.

As far as Kimmich is concerned, even though he has been in talks with Bayern Munich over a new deal, he is yet to commit to an extension as he wishes to wait for Barça and other suitors from the Premier League to present him with offers.

Now, talking to the media recently, Kimmich openly addressed his contract situation, admitting that he has held talks with Bayern Munich but is yet to make a decision as he wishes to assess all possibilities.

“I spoke to the club. I won’t put too much pressure on myself. But of course, there has to be a decision in the coming months,” Kimmich said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

“Of course, there are many good reasons to extend. I have to consider it all and decide,” he added.

Kimmich can be a quality signing for Barça who have only Marc Casado as the out-and-out defensive midfielder in the squad at the moment.

Furthermore, with Frenkie de Jong’s future uncertain, a new signing in the centre of the park would likely be welcome.

The German international can also fill in at right-back, providing Flick with a reliable alternative for Jules Kounde.

But going by his statements, Kimmich is not ruling out the idea of extending his contract at Bayern Munich yet.
