According to Sport Bild (via FT), Bayern Munich are set to enter contract talks with winger Leroy Sané.
With the former Manchester City forward entering the final year of his contract at the Allinaz Arena, Der Rekordmeister are hoping to tie the 28-year-old down to a new deal.
However, those in charge at Bayern are not rushing to get Sané’s signature over the line, as there is an understanding that the winger’s management are prepared to fight for a lucrative deal.
This is because when Sané moved to Bavaria from the Premier League, he agreed to a €5 million a year decrease in his annual salary.
Therefore, there is hope from the player’s camp that the record champions will appreciate this and look to offer Sané a fair deal.
Nevertheless, there is uncertainty from Bayern’s perspective regarding whether they can match or improve upon Sané’s current €20 million a year contract, especially with the regular injuries the 28-year-old continues to pick up.
Due to the complexities of the deal, it is not expected that an agreement will be found soon, but there is optimism from all parties that the German international will remain in Bavaria for the foreseeable future.
