Vincent Kompany will make a late decision on Harry Kane’s involvement for Bayern Munich against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday afternoon. The 31-year-old was replaced at half-time against Celtic in Tuesday due to a calf problem, and only trained in the Rekordmeister’s final training session.
Speaking in Saturday’s press conference, Kompany was asked about his plan should Kane be unavailable to start. “It’s not the first time we’ve had to solve this this season,” said the Belgian. “We can never replace Harry one-to-one. There aren’t many strikers who score 40, 50 goals a season and that’s why we can never replace him one-to-one. We’ll try and find the best solution tomorrow so that we can win the game.”
Kane has scored 21 and created eight in 20 league games for Bayern Munich this season, averaging a goal contribution every 56 minutes.
Should Kane be unavailable, then Kompany has several options to replace the Englishman, but neither of them convincing. Thomas Müller has played just 728 minutes of Bundesliga football across 19 games this season and with Mathys Tel at Tottenham Hotspur, the only other option really is Serge Gnabry, who has been unconvincing.
