Stade Rennais youngster Désiré Doué will reportedly be heading to Paris Saint-Germain after rejecting Bayern Munich. Nonetheless, the German side are already making plans for next summer with two targets already circled.

This summer, Doué attracted interest from top European clubs such as Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur. Despite the interest abroad, the 19-year-old opted to remain in France and join a young PSG squad.

Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg provided the latest on how Bayern Munich reacted to Doué’s decision and what their plans are now that they missed out on Rennes’ rising star.

According to Plettenberg, Bayern Munich was confident that Doué would commit to the team, believing he was solely interested in joining them. Therefore, the disappointment was even greater today. However, Bayern does not plan to make any panic buys in response.

After Doué turned down Bayern Munich, saving the club €50 million to €60 million, the Bundesliga side are already focusing on a clear target for 2025. The club’s top priority is to sign either Florian Wirtz or Xavi Simons next summer.

Simons was linked to Bayern Munich and Manchester United this summer, so it comes as no surprise that the German giants want to revisit this file next year. It will be interesting to see, though, if the Red Devils also enter the race for Simons, who is on a loan deal with RB Leipzig.
