On matchday 15 of the ongoing Bundesliga season Bayern Munich brought the curtain down on 2024 with a resounding 5-1 victory over RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena. With Bayern and Leipzig being the only two Bundesliga teams in action on Friday, courtesy of the win, Bayern moved on to 36 points and opened up a seven-point lead over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen for at least 24 hours as the defending champions host Freiburg on Saturday afternoon.

Except for the visitors’ second-minute equalizer, it was a thoroughly dominant performance from Die Roten. All of Bayern’s players impressed to some degree. Jamal Musiala

Jamal Musiala got Bayern off to the perfect start by scoring Bayern’s first goal in the first minute. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder made his presence felt all over the pitch and a was force throughout the match.

It was a performance of sheer dynamism from Musiala. Apart from scoring the opening goal, he was heavily involved in build-up play which was evident when he set up Joshua Kimmich for Bayern’s third goal. When needed he also dropped deep to collect the ball and completed three of his four dribble attempts. His overall work rate was truly impressive as he also won 11 of the 13 ground duels that he contested.
