‘Beautiful’ – Hansi Flick confirms Barcelona star asked for teammate to be subbed on against Valencia | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an insight into a classy gesture on the part of Gavi on Sunday night.

Barcelona are of course fresh off a dominant victory on the domestic front, after putting Valencia to the sword by seven goals to one.

As much means that the Blaugrana have for the time being closed the gap on La Liga table-toppers Real Madrid to seven points.

The aforementioned Gavi, for his part, did not feature yesterday evening, spending the full 90 minutes on the bench.

This comes despite the fact that boss Hansi Flick had every intention of introducing him to the fray, however.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s rampant win, Hansi Flick revealed that Gavi requested to be left out for the game’s closing exchanges, in favour of the lesser-seen Pablo Torre.

Midfielder Torre, in turn, was afforded 15 minutes of playing time.

“I loved what Gavi did tonight,” Flick began. ”I spoke about bringing him in for the last 15 minutes and he said: Coach, bring Pablo Torre in. It’s something great. I love Gavi, this is beautiful to see.”
