Suinfo are reporting that Hakim Sahabo is set to join struggling Beerschot on loan this January. With the side from Antwerp’s transfer ban now lifted, they are looking to bring in players that can help them remain in the Pro League following their promotion from the second tier last season. Former Lille youngster Sahabo has yet to feature for the Standard Liege first team this season and has instead been playing for SL16, the sides second team.
Last year, Sahabo made 18 appearances for the senior side. He impressed despite being just 18-years-old at the time. This year Ivan Leko has gone with other options which means that for Sahabo, game time is best to be found elsewhere. According to the reports, he hopes that by going to Beerschot he can return to Standard having put together a decent second half of the season, which could then help him earn a place in the starting XI or matchday squads.
Sahabo is highly rated and has already been capped at senior level by the Rwandan national team.
