After finalising Joshua Zirkzee’s arrival and advancing in negotiations for Matthijs de Ligt, Manchester United chiefs are poised to turn their attention to outgoings in the hope of recuperating some money back in the transfer budget.

So far, United have made just £5.4million from player sales this summer; £5m came from Benfica choosing to activate Alvaro Fernandez’s buy clause and just £419,000 was generated from Donny van de Beek’s permanent move to Girona last week.

Young defender Willy Kambwala is expected to join Villarreal imminently, having completed his medical tests in Spain yesterday. United have signed off on an £8.5m package, which includes a sell-on clause and buy-back option.

Now, according to Turkish outlet Taktik Mania, Galatasaray are looking to accelerate their efforts in trying to sign Scott McTominay.

Ibrahim Hatipoglu, a member of the club’s board of directors, said of their pursuit over the weekend: “Scott McTominay’s transfer fee is being discussed.”

McTominay could bid farewell to Old Trafford

Previous reports have suggested that while McTominay is one of Ten Hag’s most trusted lieutenants, United are open to moving him on for the right price. The fact that he’s not guaranteed a starting role heading into the 2024/2025 campaign will presumably make him consider cutting ties with his boyhood club, too.

As the 27-year-old is a Carrington graduate, any fee the Reds receive will be straight profit.
