Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta confirmed the club’s ambition to win multiple trophies this season despite a rough patch. Speaking to DAZN via FCInterNews in the build-up to last night’s home game against Genoa, Marotta underlined Inter’s lofty aspirations.
After last weekend’s underwhelming 1-0 loss at Juventus, Inter bounced back with an identical home win against Genoa to ascend the Serie A throne. However, Napoli could reclaim their place at the top of the tree with a win against Como.
Nonetheless, it was a step in the right direction as Inter bid to become the first reigning Scudetto champion to defend their crown in five years.
“We are coming off an undeserved defeat and it was only right for us to meet up and help keep the group united because, from the status of my role, I can give them further encouragement,” the Inter bigwig stated. “I just encouraged them, then we have daily discussions with the coach and nothing has changed there.
“The mentality remains the same, we are Inter and we must participate in every tournament aiming to go all the way. There are difficulties in having seven games in 20 days, so we hope that there will be no further injuries. We must challenge for everything, then if the other teams do better, we applaud and tip our hats to them.”
Inter will square off against Lazio in a mouth-watering Coppa Italia quarter-final tie in midweek, looking to build momentum ahead of a top-table six-pointer against Napoli in Serie A.
