With 24 appearances in total for Germany’s U17 and U19 teams, the youngster’s decision comes as both a surprise and the inevitable.

Both of Bence’s brothers, Marton (23) and Palko (25) who represent Hertha Berlin in the 2.Bundesliga, also opted to represent Hungary.

It is clear Bence, and his siblings want to follow in their father, Pal’s footsteps who achieved 61 caps with the Magyars.

Bence took to Instagram to announce his decision to the public, saying:

“My roots are in Hungary, my heart and that of my family beat for Hungary, and I am very happy to have the opportunity to play for the Hungarian national team”.

The 19-year-old who was born in Berlin didn’t forget to thank DFB teams and trainers who nurtured his development.

“I was born in Germany, grew up in Germany and I was trained by the DFB juniors. I am very grateful for that and always will be.

“I would also like to thank all the coaches and officials who have given me the opportunities I have had so far at the DFB,” he concluded.

Bence Dardai, who has made 12 appearances for Wolfsburg to date, could make his Hungarian debut as early at March 20th when they take on Türkiye.
