Bernardo Silva has helped City to records and historic achievements galore in his 400 appearances.

The Portuguese playmaker has hit that landmark towards the end of his eighth season at the Etihad Stadium, meaning he averages around 50 games per season.

That’s an incredible feat in itself given the level of talent in this all-conquering squad, which Pep Guardiola has led to 18 major honours.

But Guardiola often states how he feels safer and more in control when his No.20 is on the pitch, with the 30-year-old excellent at judging when to attack and when to retain possession.

His ability on the ball has made him one of the hardest players in world football to dispossess, while his tireless energy means he often wins the ball back quickly.

It’s no coincidence Bernardo’s time at City has come during a trophy-laden era when Guardiola’s charges have dominated English football.

Here we’ll look at every milestone match for Bernardo so far as he celebrates this latest round number.

Debut: Brighton 0-2 City, August 2017

Our exciting young playmaker was one of four men to make his debut in this match as Pep Guardiola got his second season off to a brilliant start.

With Ederson, Kyle Walker and Danilo all starting for their maiden appearance, we had to wait until the second half to see Bernardo get his first taste of English football.

Those new additions in the summer, as well as more time on the training ground with Guardiola, made 2017/18 a special season.

50th: City 5-0 Swansea City, April 2018

Supremely fit and extraordinarily adaptable, Bernardo clocked up 50 appearances before the end of his first season at the Etihad Stadium.

This game was yet another crushing victory amongst so many that term and came just a month before we confirmed ourselves as the first team ever to amass 100 Premier League points.

100th: Manchester United 0-2 City, April 2019

After the relative procession to the historic first title under Pep Guardiola in 2017/18, this campaign was tense to the very end.

City had to win all of our last 14 games to hold off the challenge of Liverpool in perhaps the highest quality and most demanding title race the Premier League has ever seen.

After a frustrating first half at Old Trafford, Bernardo marked his 100th City appearance with a moment that demonstrated his brilliant blend of industry and genius.

Collecting the ball on the right, he sprinted towards Luke Shaw before shifting the ball inside and hitting low and hard before David de Gea could react.

As usual, his celebration left no doubt as to just how much it meant to him.

150th: Southampton 1-0 City, July 2020

After two seasons of unbelievable standards, City fell away from truly challenging Liverpool in 2019/20 – with the COVID-19 lockdown also delaying the season and pushing it into the summer.

Bernardo remained as busy as ever, playing 52 times that term but his 150th game at

200th: Brighton 3-2 City, May 2021

The Blues returned to the summit of the division in 2020/21, winning the league even before this trip to Brighton on the penultimate matchday.

The trophy would be lifted at the Etihad a few days later and a first-ever Champions League final was nearing, so there was little riding on this game although it was a highly entertaining watch for the neutral.

250th: West Ham 2-2 City, May 2022

In the midst of another tense title battle with Liverpool, this point was a tough one to take at the time but it eventually proved to be pivotal.

Playing in midfield alongside Kevin De Bruyne and ahead of Rodri, Bernardo gave his all here as he always does.

The Portuguese international continued to prove himself as one of the most versatile members of our squad, as well as someone capable of sprinkling some star quality into any performance.

300th: City 2-1 Leeds, May 2023

An in-form City had something historic brewing as we entered May 2023.

This victory – courtesy of two Ilkay Gundogan goals – did not set hearts racing, but was vital in the Treble we would confirm a month later.

A few days later would be the first leg of a seismic Champions League semi-final tie with Real Madrid that Bernardo himself would play a starring role in.

Having played a left-back earlier in the season, he was now firmly a fixture on the right wing – mixing his eye for a match-winning moment and deep understanding of Pep’s philosophy perfectly.

350th: Nottingham Forest 0-2 City, April 2024

That there is rarely 12 months between Bernardo’s landmark games is proof paramount of his durability and the sheer amount of work he has got through for the Club.

His 350th game came in another essential victory in our hunt for a record-breaking fourth title in a row.

This success was the fifth win in a run of nine successive victories that saw us hold off Arsenal at the top of the table.

That meant that come the end of the season Bernardo was, yet again, a central pillar in a historic triumph for Manchester City.
