Manchester United have received a big boost ahead of their Europa League clash with Bodo/Glimt on Thursday.

According to journalist Laurie Whitwell, Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez are back in training after recovering from their respective injuries.

They were greeted by ‘the gauntlet of teammates slapping their backs as a welcome before starting the warm-up’.

Martinez suffered a back injury during United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City earlier this month. He subsequently withdrew from the recent international games for Argentina.

Maguire picked up a muscle injury just before half-time in October’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.

The return of the two players will be good news for Ruben Amorim, as he was short of options at the back last weekend.

The new United manager prefers to play in a 3-4-3 set-up.

He fielded a back three of Jonny Evans, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in his debut game against Ipswich Town.

Diogo Dalot and Amad Diallo operated in the wing-back spots.

Evans started as the left centre-back and was one of the worst performers. He failed to press the opponents and lacked the pace to return to his position.

Martinez is likely to replace the veteran if he is fully fit.

De Ligt could also be rested for Maguire. Amorim indicated in his press conference that he would focus on rotation to keep the players fit.

The England international could prove to be a great asset for the Portuguese.

His fine ball-distributing skills and his long diagonals to wing-backs could help United add a new attacking dimension.

The Red Devils have won only one of their four Europa League games, drawing the first three fixtures.
