Blackburn Rovers stopped a run of five straight defeats on Tuesday evening, as they came back from 2-0 down at home to Sheffield Wednesday to draw 2-2.

Valerien Ismael had picked up just one point since taking over at Ewood Park following John Eustace's decision to leave the club and move to Derby County in February, but he was able to double his tally as his side produced an excellent second half performance.

Frustrations are starting to boil over in Lancashire, with anger being directed at the owners, The Venky's, as well as those in charge of the day-to-day running of the club, such as Chief Executive Steve Waggott, Head of Football Operations Rudy Gestede and Chief Operating Officer Suhail Pasha.

However, work is being done behind the scenes ready for next season, with Blackburn planning for another campaign in the Championship despite pushing for a play-off place earlier on in the campaign, with a young Nottingham Forest player a target.

Verdict made on Blackburn's interest in Adam Berry

Rovers are not the only side in the division to show an interest in Adam Berry, with Norwich City and Stoke City also keen on the services of the 19-year-old, who joined the Reds from Manchester United last year.

Teamtalk have claimed that the Championship trio are set to battle it out for the signature of the winger in the summer, with Forest offering the teenager a new contract at the City Ground.

Football League World has asked their Blackburn Fan Pundit, Simon Middleshurst, if he would be happy with signing Berry in the transfer window, with Ismael needing new forward options at Ewood Park.

He told FLW: "It would be an interesting signing. He’s a young player who has a lot of promise.

"I've seen a number of Championship sides are after him as well. He was also one of Manchester United’s youth products so and they have obviously been notorious for bringing through youth players, so it would be an interesting signing."

Simon continued: "It's very clear that Blackburn do lack striking options and wing options, so getting a player who can play in both positions definitely would be an exciting signing for Blackburn, especially with the size of squad that we've got.

"So, it’s definitely interesting, and one to look out for."

The addition of Berry could be a long-term replacement for Tyrhys Dolan

With just five games to go in the Championship this season, focus has started to turn to handing out new deals to players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of June, with Blackburn also active in this department currently.

However, no progress has been made on Tyrhys Dolan's situation, with the winger's time at Ewood Park set to come to an end if he does not put pen-to-paper on a new deal in the coming months.

While Berry is relatively inexperienced at senior level, he could be the long-term replacement for Rovers' number 10 if he does decide to leave, and they can mould him into the player that they need on the flank.

It's a tough situation for Ismael, who clearly needs his own players, but question marks will be asked about his ability to get the best out of young stars, considering the struggles that he has had with this current Blackburn squad, and this may keep Stoke in pole position for the Nottingham Forest youngster.
