Tah’s current contract at Bayer Leverkusen expires at the end of the season, meaning he is set to become a free agent in the summer.

Barcelona are among the clubs interested in the services of the German international, but the club face stiff competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

Tah makes an important decision

However, a recent report from Suddeutsche Zeitung (h/t SPORT) has offered an important update on Tah’s future, one that might hugely favour Barcelona.

Indeed, the German news publication suggests that Tah has made a key decision with regards to his future: He will not join Bayern Munich on a free transfer next summer.

This is quite significant considering the fact that Bayern were considered one of the frontrunners in the race to sign the Leverkusen defender.

Tah was even close to signing for Bayern in 2024. But it appears the defender is not looking for a challenge abroad, with Barcelona emerging as a potential destination.

Although sporting director Deco has recently indicated that Barça have frozen negotiations to determine the feasibility of transfer, Bayern being thrown out of the equation could serve as a major incentive for the club.

That said, the Catalans will still face stiff competition for the services of Tah, meaning the club must move swiftly if they are to acquire the services of the defender.

One thing is certain, the acquisition of Tah will be approved by Hansi Flick for sure as the Barça head coach is well aware of the player’s abilities, having worked with him during his time with the German national team.
