Speaking to Sky Germany, Stuttgart left-back Borna Sosa commented on his future at the club.

Since joining Die Roten in 2018 from Dinamo Zagreb, the Croatian has featured over 100 times for Stuttgart developing into one of the best full-backs in the Bundesliga. Therefore, he has undoubtedly garnered considerable interest from Europe’s elite, but, Sosa has always remained in Swabia.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old hinted that a move away from the club may come sooner rather than later. “I’ve told my agency that I don’t want to talk about these things when I’m on vacation. That’s why I don’t have much information. In the transfer period, the most interesting weeks are always the end of July and the beginning of August.”

However, Sosa explained how he will not push for a move away from the club. “For me, the most important thing when I go is that the club is happy too. But if I stay, I’m happy too. I’ve been here for five years and have experienced a lot in Stuttgart. It’s like a second home for me. Both situations can happen, definitely. We know that the summer transfer window is very long.”

Throughout Sosa’s spell with Stuttgart, there have been constant reports linking him with moves away. Nonetheless, the offers have never been lucrative enough for Die Roten to give the green flag to the 25-year-old:

“I’ve spoken to many clubs before and had offers. The club said: Maybe it’s not so smart that I’m leaving now because it was in winter. Before that, I think the price was too high. As Sven Mislintat was here, the price was more than 25 million. It’s always difficult to pay. I’m not stressed, I’m calm. If a club wants to buy me, they will come.”

Sosa concluded by commenting on his preferred destinations if a move were to materialise: “England is the best league in the world. But if I see the full picture, the country and the culture in Spain or Italy is similar to Croatia. A lot of good teams play in England, Spain and Italy, so I’ll say those three.”

The full-back is certainly on Stuttgart’s transfer list this summer, with the club looking to receive a handsome fee for his services. The club will not stand in his way and an offer within the double-digit million range would be enough for the Swabian side.
