Borussia Dortmund dealt triple injury blow

Borussia Dortmund will have to do without Karim Adeyemi, Julien Duranville and Gio Reyna for the foreseeable future. Speaking in Friday’s press conference ahead of their Bundesliga game against Union Berlin, Nuri Şahin confirmed the bitter news.

“We have a few absences,” said Şahin. “Julien Duranville and Karim Adeyemi will be out for a while, but we expect them back after the international break. Gio Reyna had a setback and his schedule looks similar. Juju felt something during a sprint. That of course is bitter.”

Adeyemi featured in Borussia Dortmund’s 7-1 win over Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday night, scoring a hat-trick at the Westfalenstadion, just weeks after scoring one for the German U21 side. After a difficult few months, the German forward was just starting to regain his confidence.

That means that the trio will be absent for Borussia Dortmund’s games against Union Berlin, St. Pauli, Real Madrid, Augsburg, Wolfsburg, RB Leipzig, Sturm Graz and potentially Mainz, if they are not to return until after the November international break.
