In the build-up to his side's clash with Bayern, manager Gerardo Seoane stressed the importance of composure, stating: "We have to be brave, but not headless. It's important to recognise situations in which we can press higher and threaten the opponent. In terms of possession, we will probably be inferior against this top team."
Die Fohlen have displayed impressive form, securing four wins, two draws, and just one loss in their last seven matches while netting 14 goals.
Despite this, Seoane's side has struggled defensively, managing only two clean sheets in their previous 11 games across all competitions and conceding six goals in their last four outings.
Gladbach's home record, however, remains outstanding, as they are unbeaten in their last six matches at Borussia Park, achieving five victories during that stretch.

The hosts will be without winger Nathan N'Goumou, who is sidelined until late January, while Franck Honorat remains a doubt for the match.
Striker Tim Kleindienst is expected to spearhead Gladbach's attack, potentially supported by Kevin Stöger, Alassane Pléa, and Robin Hack. In defence, Ko Itakura and Nico Elvedi are likely to feature as the central pairing, with a midfield double pivot of Rocco Reitz and Julian Weigl shielding the backline.
Visitors Bayern entered the winter break on the back of a dominant display against RB Leipzig at Allianz arena, overcoming the Red Bulls by five goals to one.
Reflecting on the win and his first six months at the helm in Bavaria, Vincent Kompany said that he has “felt at home with every step” that his side has taken so far.
The Belgian coach has had an undeniable impact at the club, with the Rekordmeister remaining unmatches in the league, being top of the table whilst only conceding 13 goals to make up a goal difference of +34, 18 more than their closest competitor Bayer Leverkusen.
However, their recent form has shown some vulnerability, with one loss and one draw in their last four Bundesliga outings. Even so, they’ve been defeated just once in their previous 15 league games.
Bayern’s performances on the road in general, however, have also been commendable, securing four wins, one draw, and a single loss in their last six away matches.

Bayern face several key absences, including the suspended Dayot Upamecano and the injured Hiroki Ito, Sacha Boey, Josip Stanišić, and Tarek Buchmann.
In goal, Manuel Neuer is likely to rely on a backline of Konrad Laimer, Eric Dier, Kim Min-jae, and Alphonso Davies for protection.
Further up the pitch, Thomas Müller could occupy an advanced role, with Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka anchoring the midfield in the absence of Jamal Musiala and João Palhinha, who are not expected to feature on Saturday.
