Bournemouth manager gives Europa League compliment to Ivan Juric | OneFootball

Andoni Iraola has drawn parallels to Ivan Juric's game plan with that of Europa League winner Gian Piero Gasperini.

Premier League is a competitive stage and derby matchups make them a thrilling end-to-end affair. While huge prestige remains up for grabs, there is an element of mutual respect between the opponents.

Sometimes, the on-field competitors don't go along very well which is understandable given the significance of a good result. Still, their off-field counterparts often refrain from indulging in verbal disputes.

We are talking about managers and a good sportsmanship example has been presented by Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola. Talking about Ivan Juric, Iraola compared his footballing philosophy to Atalanta's Europa League winning coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

As quoted by the Daily Echo, Iraola said: "You can see what the new manager wants to do. He comes from Italy. You can feel straight away his relationship with Gasperini with this kind of system."

To begin with, Iraola's words may sound flattering but this applause isn't wide off the mark. Over the years, Gasperini has implemented a five-man defence with wingbacks being a key feature in his lineups.

Though that leaves more space in the middle of the park, having high work ethic players helps fill that void. Juric also prefers a similar progressive strategy but the desired results may take some time to come at Southampton.

Obviously, that's down to the squad personnel where the Saints are losing ground. Adam Lallana is the latest player to be sidelined with Southampton expected to play a makeshift backline to face Bournemouth.

Not to forget, Iraola is an elite tactician himself. Thus, Juric would need to take a leaf out of Gasperini's European masterclass to stand a winning chance with a thin selection roster.
