Dorival has left his role as head coach of the Brazilian national team.
The 62-year-old was only appointed in January 2024, taking charge of 16 games during which his homeland were eliminated from last year's Copa América last 16.
But Wednesday's chastening World Cup qualifying defeat to Argentina saw Dorival removed from his post as the Seleção seek to go in a different direction.
"The Brazilian Football Confederation announces that coach Dorival Júnior will no longer be in charge of the Brazilian National Team," read a statement.
"The board thanks the professional and wishes him success in his continued career. From now on, the CBF will work to find a replacement."
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti continues to be heavily touted as the favourite to take over the five-time world champions.
