Carlos Augusto admits that Inter Milan “weren’t ourselves” in last week’s shock 3-0 Serie A loss against Fiorentina.
The Brazilian spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, ahead of today’s rematch against La Viola. He called this evening’s match “another opportunity” for the Nerazzurri.
Inter did not just lose to Fiorentina on Thursday evening. They suffered an absolute rout.
The Nerazzurri lost by a three-goal margin for the first time since 2019.
Moreover, the scoreline was not harsh or unfair on Inter. The performance was turgid and disjointed, and there was little fluke in Fiorentina’s margin of victory.
Ultimately, losses happen in football, and Fiorentina have proven themselves capable of inflicting defeats on the big teams in Serie A this season.
Raffaele Palladino’s team have beaten the likes of AC Milan and Roma during the campaign. They also got a draw against Juventus.
But beyond the three points thrown away in the title race, last week’s loss came as a huge blow to Inter’s morale.
Inter wingback Carlos Augusto said that “We have a huge hunger to play a good match” this evening.
“After four days we have an opportunity to show the strength of our group,” the 26-year-old went on.

“That’s the beauty of football.”
Augusto said that “We want to show that it will be a different match.”
“We want to play a good match and we’re just focused on ourselves.”
Augusto continued that “We’re playing matches every three days, and we want to play all of them well.”
“Thursday we weren’t ourselves,” admitted the Brazilian international. “But today we have another opportunity.”
“We have to stay focused,” he made clear.
Meanwhile, Augusto also added that “This season is a balanced, brilliant title race.”
“We have to approach each match like it’s a final,” the Inter wingback made clear. “The other teams are strong.”
“We’ll think about Napoli later,” said Augusto. “Today we’re just thinking about winning this match.”
Meanwhile, Augusto also spoke to InterTV ahead of today’s match, via FCInterNews.
The Brazilian said that Inter have “watched the match back over the last few days.”
“We’ve just focused on ourselves. I think we’ll have a great match.”
Augusto admitted that “We certainly conceded goals that we don’t usually concede.”
“We’ll have to try not to make the same mistakes that we made on Thursday, knowing that we weren’t ourselves then,” he added.
