SV Werder Bremen trainer Ole Werner currently possesses two German wingbacks flourishing under his command in the form of Mitchell Weiser and Derrick Köhn. Werner also maintains a great deal of respect for a third German, Felix Agu, who has been unable to play regularly due to injury.

With three actors ahead of him on the depth chart, Belgian international Olivier Deman remains the odd-man-out. The 24-year-old has logged just 79 minutes in nine substitute appearances this season. Overall, he has 38 Bundesliga appearances and two goals to his credit.

Signed with much fanfare in the summer of 2023, Deman has never been able to catch on and live up to the expectations associated with his reported €4 million price tag. The natural left back's estimated market worth has fallen by half to €3 million since he joined the Hanseaten.

Germany's main sporting tabloid - in a report published today - claims that Werder will actively be shopping Deman out for a loan or sale this January. The thrice-capped Belgian international's current working papers run through 2028.

“Everyone will think about their future over the Christmas period," SV licensing head Peter Niemeyer is quoted as saying in the article, "It's clear that Olivier Deman is not happy with his situation.”
