Brentford hit their 50th Premier League goal of the season on the day on which they also reached a half-century of top-flight wins - and there are almost too many milestones and statistics to mention following the Bees' 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest have all left the south coast empty-handed this season, but Thomas Frank and his side bagged another three points at Vitality Stadium to send them back to the capital with a spring in their step.

Lauded for their red-hot form at Gtech Community Stadium earlier in the season, the west Londoners have hit their stride on the road with five consecutive away wins - a new Premier League record for the Bees and more than any other team in the top flight this season.

After the victory against the Cherries, Frank praised his side's ability to "edge" an evenly-balanced encounter, as goals from Yoane Wissa and Christian Nørgaard saw the visitors recover from Vitaly Janelt's early own goal to record their fourth comeback win of the season (only Newcastle and Man City - five - have more).

Brentford's ability to stay in games and remain competitive even when they are under the cosh is a fantastic trait to have, and one that is well illustrated by the fact they are one of only three teams (as well as Arsenal and Liverpool) yet to lose a top-flight game by more than two goals this season.

A round 50 Premier League wins since promotion from the Championship in 2020/21 is a considerable achievement to reflect upon and, what's more, no team has reached their half-century quicker than the Bees since 1995.

When you consider that Brentford - even factoring in their injury-blighted 2023/24 campaign - have never ended a Premier League matchday in a position lower than 16th, the job done by Frank and his players since reaching the top tier of English football is simply outstanding.

Manchester United may have endured some turbulent times over recent seasons, but it is still startling to think that the Bees have outscored the Red Devils - one of the biggest and most expensively assembled teams in the world - by 212 goals to 209 since the Bees were promoted to the Premier League back in the summer of 2021.

During their relatively short time in the top flight, the west Londoners have already managed to beat every opponent they have faced at least once, and they are also one of only 10 clubs with a positive goal difference in an all-time Premier League table.

As stated at the outset, there is certainly plenty for the upwardly mobile Bees to be proud of in the context of their Premier League journey to date - and Saturday's victory over Bournemouth bore many of the hallmarks that have characterised their success.

Widely recognised as one of the smartest teams in the division from set-pieces, both of Brentford's goals stemmed from dead-balls - Wissa's neat finish from a Bryan Mbeumo corner was notably the 10th headed goal they have scored in 2024/25: no team has scored more with their head in the Premier League.

No player in the top flight has now scored more goals from set-plays than Wissa (four) this season, and Mbeumo's assist saw him reach 20 Premier League goal involvements (15 goals and five assists) for the first time on an afternoon of milestones.

It is undoubtedly Brentford's strong core of professionals, embodied by Frank in the dugout and Nørgaard on the pitch, which has helped establish the Bees in the Premier League. And it is notable that six Brentford players have played in 40 or more of their 50 Premier League wins: Janelt, Mbeumo (both 47), Wissa (44), Pinnock (43), Norgaard (41) and Jensen (40).

Now past the 40-point mark, Brentford can take stock of their progress during the international break - and gird their loins for the remainder of what could be their best campaign yet.
