As Brentford’s Premier League journey intensifies, the squad braces for a demanding April with an air of cautious optimism. Manager Thomas Frank has shared some heartening news: the team might soon see the return of two pivotal players, Ethan Pinnock and Kevin Schade. Their potential comeback could bolster the Bees as they navigate through a challenging fixture list.
Pinnock, sidelined by an ankle injury, and Schade, grappling with an adductor issue, will unfortunately sit out the upcoming clash against Manchester United at the Gtech Community Stadium. However, their recovery trajectory suggests a possible return in time for the games against Brighton and Aston Villa early next month, although Frank admits, “it will be tight.”
In their absence, Brentford have had to adapt. Brian Mbeumo, previously stepping in during Ivan Toney’s suspension, encountered his own setback with an ankle injury in December, missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations. Nevertheless, Mbeumo’s involvement in 10 league goals this season showcases his vital role in the team’s attacking dynamics. With Toney back on the pitch and Mbeumo gaining match fitness — evidenced by his participation in a recent in-house game — the team’s forward line looks promising.
Thomas Frank expressed optimism about Mbeumo’s progress, stating, “Bryan, of course, is further down the line and that’s very, very good.”
Yet, the injury saga doesn’t end there for Brentford. Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva, and Ben Mee are all sidelined for the season, dealing a significant blow to the squad’s depth. Additionally, Sergio Reguilon, on loan from Tottenham, will miss the next match due to a suspension incurred before the international break.
