Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed that Brighton will be without forward Joao Pedro for this weekend’s clash with Chelsea in the Premier League.
Pedro was on the receiving end of a tough tackle from Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White last weekend, with the latter sent off during the fiery 2-2 draw between the sides at the Amex Stadium.
The Brazilian was pictured on crutches following the game with Forest and Hurzeler has confirmed that he will be unavailable for selection this weekend. Brighton travel to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Seagulls boss Hurzeler confirmed that Pedro will not be fit for the trip to West London and added: “I’m not sure how long he will be out.”
His absence is a big blow to Brighton with the 22-year-old having started the season in strong form, with two goals in three Premier League starts.
Pedro was Brighton’s leading scorer last season after netting 20 goals in all competitions following his £30m arrival from Watford.
