Brighton & Hove Albion have continued their summer spending with the signing of Leeds United forward Georginio Rutter for £40m.

The 22-year-old Frenchman joins the Seagulls after a 18 month spell with Leeds, signing a five-year contract with Fabian Hurzeler’s side.

Brighton have now spent around £130m this summer as they look to return to European football.

However, the South Coast’s transfer spree looks set to continue as they continue to pursue Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, according to the Daily Mail.

Any deal for the Danish international would break the Scottish transfer record currently held by O’Riley’s former teammate Jota after his transfer to Al Ittihad last season.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, according to Sky Sports. The 24-year-old has three years left on his contract and was an unused substitute in Arsenal’s opening day win against Wolves.

The Gunners value Nketiah at around £30m, with Crystal Palace also interested in the forward.

Sticking with Arsenal, Wolves are in talks with the club over signing goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale. The Midlands outfit want a loan deal with an option to buy, whilst Mikel Arteta’s side would rather want a permanent sale.

According to BBC Sport, Everton are interested in re-signing former goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, who was released by QPR this summer.

The 37-year-old was at the Toffees from 2021 to 2023, with Sean Dyche’s men in need of an experienced back-up for Jordan Pickford.

Finally, the Times reports that Manchester City are considering a move to re-sign former midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Barcelona.

The 33-year-old’s time at the Nou Camp appears to be coming to an end with the Catalans needing to find space to register new signing Dani Olmo.
