That's according to a significant recent update from journalist Pete O'Rourke, who reported the development via his X account on Monday morning.

Reindorf now appears set to be Rovers' third signing of the mid-season transfer window, while he will represent the latest departure in a long list of exits from south Wales this month.

O'Rourke has revealed the Gas have advanced in talks to sign Reindorf ahead of Notts County, despite the League Two promotion hopefuls having reportedly struck an agreement with Cardiff.

Indeed, reports from the Welsh capital over the weekend disclosed how the Magpies had won the race for his signature, but Rovers have seemingly snatched his services in a dramatic turnaround.

Earlier on in the window, Football League World exclusively revealed interest in Reindorf from both Rovers and neighboring side Newport County.

The 19-year-old, who only joined the Bluebirds last summer from Norwich City, has been earmarked for a loan exit after turning heads with the club's under-21 side in recent months.

Reindorf has made four first-team appearances to date and impressed in EFL Cup fixtures against Rovers and Southampton, and made an impressive debut at home to the Gas back in August.

Cardiff City's Michael Reindorf could be a good signing for Bristol Rovers

Rovers were able to get a good look at Reindorf when he appeared from the bench to give them a litany of problems in the closing stages of their 2-0 defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium, and it will now be hoped he can replicate that impact on the other side of the River Severn in what remains of the current campaign.

Reindorf is still raw and inexperienced, but possesses no shortage of talent and can be a real handful for opponents with his high pressing, energy, speed and flair on the ball. The striker is certainly a real prospect and could offer a boost to Rovers' League One survival hopes.

Cardiff will have been keen to get the right loan move for him and Rovers could be just that.

It's a surprising turn of events considering he had been primed to sign on in Nottinghamshire for the rest of the season, but that could well be Rovers' gain and he will now hope for regular minutes to put him in good stead to push for first-team contention with the Bluebirds in 25/26 and beyond.
