Scott Brown issued a brutal assessment of his Ayr United side after they were beaten in the Scottish Championship Playoffs. The Celtic legend is synonymous with success from his playing days but suffered a set back after Partick Thistle came from behind in the tie to progress to face Livi.
Ayr won the first leg at Firhill but were beaten last night by two strikes from interim joint-manager Brian Graham. In an emotional post match media appearance at Somerset Park, the Celtic legend confirmed that he was thinking about his future at the club after the display.
Brown always wore his heart of his sleeve as a player but appeared to be more measured as a coach. The clip with the BBC showed that he was less than impressed with his squad after the result. It may have been the heat of the moment and the manager may regret the comments once the dust has settled.
Brendan Rodgers and Brown are close and the former Scottish Internationalist will lean on the Celtic manager, along with other mentors, for advice.
Celtic have always been touted with potentially using the connection with Brown to continue the development of youth stars. Players like Dane Murray could benefit from working with Brown. Neil Lennon may remain in the division.
