The goalkeeping situation at FC Barcelona has been quite filled with uncertainty this season. Marc-André Ter Stegen was the starting goalkeeper for his side at the start of the season, but the serious injury he suffered only a few weeks into the season meant he was unable to play for most of the current campaign.
After his injury, Inaki Pena was the Catalan team’s starting goalkeeper. But this changed with the start of the new year, when Wojciech Szczesny became the regular starter for Hansi Flick.
The Pole has been starting all the matches for Barcelona since then, but this situation is once again filled with uncertainty as Ter Stegen has returned from his spell on the sidelines.
But in addition to Szczesny, this situation is also not too good for the Spanish shot-stopper, Pena, as he will be relegated to the third spot in the pecking order.

In such a context, Fichajes reports that the La Masia graduate is now preparing for his final departure from the Blaugrana club. There are several clubs interested in signing him, but for now, the German side RB Leipzig seems to be leading the race for his signing.
The German side is particularly attracted by the goalkeeper’s youth, his technical ability, and his development as a player. Furthermore, the Bundesliga could be a good training ground for him going forward.
While it remains to be seen how this operation unfolds in the coming weeks and months, there is still no doubt that the best way forward for Inaki Pena remains leaving Barcelona and looking for a new side where he will be a regular starter.
At this point in his career, he needs to play consistent minutes on the pitch, something he is highly unlikely to get at the Blaugrana club, but it still needs to be seen where he will be playing next season.
